当变速器过载时，锥形销会被切断，也能起到安全保护作用；套筒联轴器具有结构简单、制造容易、径向尺寸小的特点，但缺点是拆卸时连接的轴需要轴向移动，维护不方便，限制了其应用。拆卸联轴器时，连接的轴需要轴向移动，维修不方便。改进后的套筒联轴器定位准确，连接稳定，结构简单，其应用范围很广泛。减速机与转鼓采用套筒联轴器连接，有效保证了同轴度要求，但存在拆装困难的缺点。
